Daddy's Home stars Will Ferrell as Brad, a kind and super sensitive stepfather determined to develop a loving relationship with his stepchildren. He does manage to make some progress, but then the kids' real father Mark Wahlberg comes home and he's the exact opposite of Brad - fun, tough, cool and insanely charming.
In case you haven't seen any of the promos for the film, one of the showcase scenes takes place during a Lakers game when Brad tries to impress the kids by nailing a half-court shot.
As one might expect, it doesn't go very well. Whether this kind of humor is your thing or not, it's still a pretty impressive scene given what it took to pull off. Rather than shoot the scene on their own time and add a digital crowd in post, director Sean Anders and his team decided to do it during halftime of a real Lakers game.
With the movie due in theaters on December 25th, I got the chance to sit down with Anders, writer Brian Burns and writer-producer John Morris to discuss what it took to make that scene work. Find out what they told the crowd before shooting the scene, when Kobe Bryant got involved and lo more in the video interview below.
